Conta a história de Benjamim Button, cuja ordem temporal de existência é contrária ao normal, ou seja, rejuvenesce em vez de envelhecer, com uma história de amor entre duas "almas gémeas desencontradas no tempo". Uma obra extraordinária, sem dúvida.

É uma elaborada história aquela que Alfred Hitchcok elaborou à volta da morte de Marion Crane, elevando o suspense a arte máxima e prendendo o espectador à tela durante todo o seu desenvolvimento. De destacar a originalidade do filme e dos planos, para a época, a forma como foi propagandeado (ninguém podia entrar na sala de cinema depois de o filme já ter começado, por ordem explícita do realizador, para que ninguém perdesse o fio à meada e o apreciasse em todo o seu esplendor). Há que lembrar também a brilhante performance de Athony Perkins na pele de Norman Bates, o responsável por um motel abandonado, situado no meio de nenhures.

As cores preto e branco usadas intencionalmente oferecem uma luz e dinâmicas muito próprias ao filme que tem um ritmo perfeitamente estruturado para prender o espectador, com grande edição de Thelma Shoonmaker (premiada com Óscar de Melhor Edição). Um filme obrigatório para qualquer coleccionador.

Uma sátira social através dos fatos de corte italiano, dos cartões de visita com alto relevo e das reservas nos restaurantes mais hype que, no fim de contas, é a exposição competitiva de todos os sinais que indicam sucesso. O argumento constrói-se e evolui num vórtice, isto é, se no início do filme Bale - aqui com um acting brutal - começa por matar apenas marginas (mendigos, prostitutas, etc) no fim descontrola-se e a febre de matar chega mais longe. (No Spoillers!) Filme inteligente e estupidamente desconcertante. A ver!

Não sendo um filme sobejamente conhecido, talvez como deveria ser, foi premiado com 4 Óscares da Academia (Melhor Dorecção artística, Melhor Fotografia, Melhor Guarda-Roupa, Melhor Banda Sonora (adaptada)). Sendo quase como um quadro em contante movimento fica na história como tendo, se não a melhor, das melhores fotografias de sempre. Stanley Kubrick não sabia fazer maus filmes e este é mais uma prova disso.

Storyline
